Kyiv: Russian forces launched approximately 150 drone attacks across Ukraine on Saturday night, according to Ukrainian officials. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 57 drones were shot down and 67 were neutralized through electronic countermeasures.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a drone strike in the city of Pavlohrad claimed one life and injured a 14-year-old girl. Additional attacks in the Odessa and Zhytomyr regions left two more people injured. In Kherson, four civilians were wounded in a separate Russian airstrike.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces thwarted Ukrainian drone attacks in the Bryansk border region and Crimea. In the Donetsk region, the mayor of Horlivka reported that five people were injured following a Ukrainian artillery assault.

On the international front, former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the escalating violence, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin "does not want to end the war." Trump described the latest Russian attacks on civilian areas as "deeply unfortunate" in a post on social media. He also had a brief conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his return from attending Pope Francis’ funeral at the Vatican — marking their first in-person meeting in recent times.

A senior Kremlin official signaled that any resolution to the conflict would likely be a lengthy process, suggesting prolonged negotiations ahead. President Zelensky, however, accused Russia of attempting to create merely an "illusion of a ceasefire" rather than engaging sincerely in peace efforts.
